Audio quality is not a plus, but it is more than enough in the conventional design of the audio subsystem. The latest release of the OnePlus 6 is still not mentioned in the sound quality, but the test still needs to be done.

One Plus 6 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with built-in audio I/O controller that provides the basic sound quality guarantee. According to the disassembly of ifixit, the matching CODEC is Qualcomm WCD9341. This audio subsystem is the same as the Qualcomm version Samsung Galaxy S9. The WCD9341 can support 32-bit/384kHz sampling specifications with a signal-to-noise ratio of 115dB and support local DSD [64/128] playback. Qualcomm considers it to be an "Audiophile grade" component. For those smartphones without separated DAC chip, its performance is sufficient.

Depending on the region of sale, the system with one plus 6 pre-installed is not the same. The version sold in mainland China uses the H2OS, which is based on Android and takes a light and streamlined route. Therefore, some third-party apps are used as built-in functions. One Plus 6s default music player is Netease Cloud Music. Since everyone is familiar with it, no screenshot will be displayed, and the version used by Plus 6 is not a special edition.

We start to add USB audio device compatibility test and Bluetooth decode supported test as the popularity of smartphone external device. We choose Musiland MD30 Plus as our audio device, using SuperDSP platform that is compatible with UAC2.0. Another one is Matrix Mini-i Pro 2S, adopting XMOS program. The reason why we choose these two is that they can display the current sampling rate on screen. We will add more devices in the future.

One plus six can be used with an external USB audio device, but the output sample rate will be locked at 48kHz, which means that the most commonly used 44.1kHz sampling rate will be adversely affected by the SRC. We suggest that OPPO is an object that can be learned.

In the Bluetooth part, aptX is supported. Actually, OnePlus 6 also supports LDAC and others, just we cannot verify cause the short of devices.

By convention, we use professional sound cards to record sounds, combining with common analysis, to provide quantitative results. One Plus 6 maximum output level is -11dB, the previous one plus 5 is -6dB.

All tests passed smoothly, and the quantitative indicators were also ideal. Compared with one plus 5T, OnePlus 6 improved on the total harmonic distortion project, and other projects were basically the same. The frequency response curve at the 44.1 kHz sampling rate has a slight jitter phenomenon, but this degree of jitter is hard to produce an audible effect on the sense of hearing. Although the WCD9341 is used, the Hi-Res test has not passed, and the S9 of the same audio subsystem is OK with this. The problem of one plus six should be stuck in the code.

The real listening performance still exists the elder problem, lacking powering. Listening at a loud volume is prone to the problem of declining control. The high frequency will become a burr, and the low frequency will be insufficient and a little muddy. If you match easy-to-power earplugs, the performance at medium and small volume is acceptable, the sound is neutral, and the overall resolution is good, but the sense of hearing is relatively flat, and listening to small compilation music is OK.

The performance of One Plus 6 belongs to the universal level of the Qualcomm models. It is inferior to iPhone series and the Samsung Galaxy S series, but slightly better than the Huawei P20 Pro and belongs to the medium-to-high level of the current mobile phone in sound quality. In fact, the hardware platform of One Plus 6 is not bad. If they have to spend a little more debugging, it is possible to achieve the level close to S9.
